A Visit to Sephora, Starhill..

The Naked 2 palette has been the talk of the beauty town ever since there were rumours of its existence. The hype went up to a whole new level when UD launched the palette in the states two months ago. I'm sure all UD fans from Malaysia, like moi, were anticipating for this palette to make its way here.

January 7th, Sephora Singapore had a pre-launch event for this palette, and that kept me wondering, does this mean......? Answer: Yes.

I was super excited when I saw Sephora Malaysia posted this picture on their facebook wall. Many UD fans have been bombarding Sephora Malaysia's facebook wall with questions regarding the event. It was obvious that many people are heading down to Sephora solely for this palette and we were informed that there were limited stocks for sale. I know it was fat hope but I decided to give it a try anyway!

I arrived Sephora at 2pm and guess what? I was the first in line! Pretty unexpected because a little bird told me that people started queuing at 12-1pm during the pre-launch event in ION, Singapore. The thought of knowing that I'll get this FOR SURE excites me but I wasn't excited for long. Beep beep beep! Rant alert!

Generally, I don't like other people taking pictures of me. Reason being I don't know how I'll look on their camera and if I look like shit I don't want the picture to get published. But when one of the staff kindly asked a picture of me for being the first in line, I forcefully said OK since this was a public event and they might need to include it in their report or something. But still, I don't like it.

I personally think that one picture is enough! It really made me super uncomfortable when the event managers and sales assistants kept taking pictures of me -,-. Seriously, it was damn embarrassing. I don't think that being the first is that big of a deal and I don't like strangers taking pictures of me! The moment I know that my picture-not-ready look is gonna get posted up on their wall, I hope that I was the second in line instead of the first. Why didn't I walk a tad bit slower?! Ishhhh..

Anyway, after having to wait for an hour, Eric Jimenez walked in, gave a speech blablabla and announced that we could finally made our purchase. I walked up to him, he passed me a NAKED 2 palette, when I was just about to walk away, the people asked for pictures AGAIN!

After that, Eric Jimenez gave a lady a make over, demonstrating different looks using the palette and at the same time promoting other products from UD.

Yeah, that was pretty much how my trip went. I happily brought home my Naked 2 palette!

Along with other stuff too :)

And when I'm home, I saw my picture on their facebook page. As expected.

Messy hair, not even looking at the camera. Simply awkward. Just Bleh.

So, did you girls manage to get your Naked 2 palette? How did your weekend went?

Charlotte

Haul and kissandmakeupNY.com Shopping Experience!!

KissandmakeupNY.com is a New York based online retail store and it provides a wide range of brands such as NARS, Smashbox, Beauty Blender, Kiehl's, Laura Mercier, Butter LONDON et cetera.

There are two shipping options available: with or without insurance, which are USD14.95 and USD9.95 respectively. Both shipping methods are flat shipping rates.

Frankly speaking, I was more than relieved when this parcel arrived at my doorstep. Reason being when I went to google this online retail store up, there were quite a handful of negative reviews, some even said that they waited bout 50days and still didn't receive their items. In the end, they have to dispute their charges with Paypal. However, these negative reviews were quite backdated. So, I narrowed down my search and the recent reviews turned out to be fairly acceptable. I even emailed them personally to enquire about their shipping policies and I received their replies within 24 hours. Having gone through all that, I figured it'll be alright to place my order. Upon placing my order, I wrote an extra note saying that I wished to have my items bubble-wrapped.

Two days later I received an email stating that my items have been shipped and about ten days after that the parcel has arrived safely. And my items were being wrapped properly just as I've requested. It is always nice to know that the seller take your requests seriously, even though it is something as minor as that :)

The only downside is that they do not accept any returns or exchanges. The sales are final. That is also why I requested my items to be bubble-wrapped, just in case the items were to break during delivery or whatnot.

So, enough of my shopping experience. Time to see what's inside the parcel:
*gasp* excited!!

  • Beauty Blender's Blender Sponge and Cleanser Kit
  • Laura Mercier's Tightline Cake Eye Liner
  • NARS Nail Polish in Galion, Night Flight and Night Rider
  • NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna
  • NARS The Multiple in Orgasm
Jealous not? :P

[Haul] Aesop

I've heard many good things about Aesop and since I've already finished up my Dior Hydra Life Youth Essential Hydrating Essence *fuhhh that's a really long name*, I decided to go to Aesop and have a look-see. After telling the SA about my skin condition, she recommended me a few items. All seems pretty tempting, but my self discipline and pocket tells me to buy only what I need most. Final decision: serum and toner.

  1. Bitter Orange Astringent Toner (Left) : AUD63
  2. Oil Free Facial Hydrating Serum (Right): AUD59
And so, the rumour is true: Aesop is really generous in giving out samples. Look what I've got!

Might be writing a review on the serum and toner in prolly 3-4 months time. Stay tuned if you're interested! :)

Hugs,
Charlotte

[Haul] From Crush Cosmetics!

*ding dong!* I just received my parcel from Crush Cosmetics this morning! Such a great start for the day! So decided to share with you guys..

  • Nyx Mega Shine Lipgloss in Sugar Pie and Golden Pink
  • Elf Matte Lip Color in Natural and Coral
  • China Glaze Nail Polish in Peachy Keen, Something Sweet and For Audrey
  • Milani Baked Blush in Corallina and Luminoso
Can't wait to try them on! *skips around the room*

Oh ya, before I forget, I have always wanted to do a shopping review on Crush Cosmetics. So here goes: I've bought a few products from them in the past few months, if I'm not mistaken this is my third time receiving their parcel. You can purchase brands like China Glaze, Nyx, NYC, Ardell, Milani, Elf, Coastal Scents etc from them. The service provided are quite consistent:
  1. Shipping takes only 2 days to arrive after placing your order (in my case)
  2. Any enquiries through email take less than 24 hours to get a reply
  3. They do not ignore your request (i.e. I told them to bubble wrap all my items, and they did!).
Besides that, they have a flat shipping rate! and if you were to purchase more than AUD60, you're entitled for a free ground shipping!

They are Australia based and they don't do international shipping :(

Wrapping everything up, it is safe to say that Crush Cosmetics is a trusted site to shop!

Have a great day!

My Not-So-New Obsession: Nail Polishes

Nail Polishes! I've been obsessed with them since forever! I couldn't even remember when was my first nail polish experience. But I do remember, when I was in primary school, whenever I'm in a drugstore, I'll play with the testers on shelves, trying them on my pinky since I never get to apply them on each of my fingers. Back then, I really thought it looked pretty that way and wouldn't bear to remove it. Haha, things you do when you were a kid. Funny memories.

I started buying nail polishes during high school but they were all cheapo brands that cost like MYR 3-4 each? I can't remember. As time passes, there is this new line of business: salons that offer manicure/pedicure services. As a teenage girl, I know I have to try them and that was how I know of the brand OPI, along with its wide range of colors. Since then, I've been spending on OPIs.

Recently, I've been exploring other brands of nail lacquers, such as Butter London and China Glaze. Butter London obtained its great reviews for its new concept of natural nail care. It is 3free: free of formal formaldehyde, toluene and DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate) which are bad for our nails. On the other hand, China Glaze is said to be as good as OPI quality wise. That is why this happened:

TADAAAAAHH!!
(Left to Right): Re-Fresh Mint, Oxygen, Second-Hand Silk, Below Deck, Cowgirl Up
Purchased from Crush Cosmetics

I've lost count on how many nail polishes I have now and I'm not anywhere near to 'enough'! What makes it worse is that I don't really have color preferences when it comes to nail polishes. Is this a good or a bad thing?

Might consider doing NOTD (Nail of the Day) posts whenever I have a new color on my nails. I figured it will be a little fun addition to my blog. :)

Charlotte

[Haul] Sigma Beauty

Received my parcel from Sigma Beauty just yesterday, was super duper excited! I literally hugged the parcel with love and smiled while skipping my way back from the post office to my apartment. :D

These pretty stuff was sitting nicely inside the box:

  • 12 Brush Kit in Make Me Blush: Coral
  • Angled Top Synthetic Kabuki in F84
  • Dry n' Shape
  • Eye Shadow Palette in Bare
  • Mini Palette - I got this for FREE!
I've been wanting to purchase their brushes for the longest time ever!! It is like a dream come true to finally get to own them!

This is my first shopping experience with Sigma Beauty. Well, I would say that the customer service is good as they reply to my email enquiries almost immediately. Given the good quality of their products, it is safe to say that the prices are fairly reasonable. Besides that, it is quite easy to find their 10% discount code online, just google and you'll get it! and they do ship internationally, BUT! *there is always a but!* the shipping fee is a bitch. *here comes the ranting* They offer 2 types of shipping: the USPS First Class International Shipping and the USPS Express International Shipping. The first class shipping is plus minus 1/3 of the total purchase, and the express one is obviously much more expensive. If the purchase is less than a certain weight limit (in my case 4 items), you have the option to choose either one, however if it is more than that limit, you can only ship through the USPS Express International. So for example, if your total purchase adds up to 200bucks, you'll be paying approximately 67bucks EXTRA for the shipping! *pfft* This is the main reason why I've waited so long to actually buy them! Like any other marketing strategies used by other companies, the shipping fees will start to increase at a slower rate at a certain point, giving the twisted psychological idea that 'it is worthy to buy more', but seriously who will splurge that much at one go (I'm talking about hundreds of USD here)? So, my advice is to combine the purchase with your friends, the more the better!

You might wonder, what made me finally decided to get them.
  1. really really really really wanted it for a very very very very long time. It's been about a year since I know of these brushes and been craving for them ever since! Believe it or not, I've been browsing their website for at least 3 times a week!
  2. I've finally got permission to buy them! :) though I am feeling kinda guilty now after all that rantings about the shipping fees
Guilts aside, I am still very happy that I've received these babies! Will prolly do a review on them soon. Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Charlotte

P/S: I receive my parcel 3 business days after placing my order. Not too bad for international shipping, but then again, I would expect it to be this fast after having to pay that much on shipping! So, I wouldn't consider this to be a plus point.
