OPI: Big Apple Red

Big Apple Red!
Thumbs up to my Hello Kitty Wallpaper :P

Big Apple Red! Frankly speaking, I was drawn to this colour by its name! For some reasons, it kinda convinced me that it is a good red...and trust me, IT IS A GOOD RED! But if you're not a fan of bright red, this might not be your thing. This baby has been with me for over two years(?), and unconsciously it has become one of my most worn nail polishes!

This nail polish should receive a MEGASHINE award! Checkout the picture above:
WITHOUT top coat!

And I love how flattering it looks against my skin.

No problems with the application or formula. Easy to apply and opaque in two coats.
Doesn't takes too long to dry.

The only downside is this:

It stains the brush of my topcoat.
Unless you are very particular, this won't be a biggie as the colour will sorta 'melt' away when you place the brush back into its bottle. So don't worry, it won't spoil your topcoat.
*This colour is soooooo gorgeous! Please don't reject it just because of that!*

This colour is sexy and classy. I love it on both my toes and fingers! *hearts lots lots*

Love,
Charlotte

OPI: Tickle my France-y

****Apologies to all my OPI babies****

I've been using China Glazes lately, so much that I almost forgotten about all my OPIs. As I was looking through my stash of nail polishes, thinking which colour should I wear, this pretty little baby here was screaming for my attention.

Tickle My France-y is from the La Collection De France for Fall 2008. Though it has been 3 years since its debut, it is still the favourite of many people, including myself.

I would describe TMF as a dusty rose colour: nudish-pinkish-mauve. I find this colour very sweet, elegant, feminine and romantic. It is definitely not the average nude colour you see everyday. There is just something very special about it.

This colour is also work appropriate, feel free to wear this to work everyday or to attend job interviews. It gives you a put together, polished look.

The only complaint I have is that the formula is kinda watery. Hence, you need about 3-4coats to get it opaque. BUT I love it so much that I stick with that issue.

[Review] Make Up For Ever: Mat Velvet+ Liquid Foundation

This baby here is my all time FAVOURITE liquid foundation! Lets see what it has to offer:

Source: www.makeupforever.com

Well, I've always thought that liquid foundations has this very 'fake' finish and it is too heavy for my liking. I wasn't a fan of them until I discover MUFE Mat Velvet+. I've been having this for about a year now and I have many good things to say about it:

The Pros
  1. I love the packaging *Check out the picture below and you'll know what I mean*
  2. I like the smell of it!
  3. It is everything it claims to be:
  • Long Lasting: I've worn it for the whole day and I don't need any touch-ups!
  • Oil free and smooth!
  • Evens out complexion: I have uneven skin tone, hence I can judge this!
  • Water Resistant: Even if it rains, your face wont look like a melting painting canvas! But that doesn't mean you can wear this to swim and still look perfect right after =.=
  • Good coverage: Just a small drop is enough to achieve a natural finish; If you want a perfect matte look, just layer it.
  • Natural and Matte Look: It gives a shine-free, non-cakey finish and DOESN'T look like you're wearing a mask!
It has a sleek packaging! And it's plastic!

Love the opening! Makes it easier to control the amount you want when you're squeezing the tube.

This is the amount you need for a natural finish!

Blends in well!

I wear only the liquid foundation. No concealer, no blush, no powder.

The Cons
  1. Because it is water resistant, you need wash your face thoroughly!
  2. It is quite pricey but worth the price! And it can last you quite some time.
Conclusion is.....
[APPROVED!! BUY BUY BUY!]

Price: MYR125
Shade that I'm using: #20 - Ivory

Favourite Gurus on YouTube

Gurus on YouTube (YT) nowadays are like celebrities! People watch them, admire them, send them goods to be reviewed and they even have fans! These gurus transformed yours truly here from a noobie who knows absolutely nothing about beauty and skincare to the vain person she is now! :P So, if you have zero knowledge and experience in cosmetics, learn from the pro! In this post, I would like to share and recommend a few gurus which I have subscribed, and also the reason why I like them. So here it goes:

She was the first YT guru that I have subscribed myself to. I like how she shares a lot of useful beauty tips and tricks, not to mention different make up looks for different events, I've learnt a lot from her. Besides teaching make up looks that are wearable, she also does make up tutorials that are slightly interesting which can be worn to special occasions such as Halloween Party, Masquerade Party etc. This is what makes her interesting; she teaches a wide range of make up techniques and able to attract over a million subscribers on YT. She's now a spokesperson for Lancome. I guess that explains why most of the products she uses for tutorials nowadays are of that brand.

She's a Hollywood make up artists. Like Michelle, her videos involve useful tips and tricks, fun make up tutorials and updated beauty news. She's also a funny person, who doesn't like a funny teacher right? It just make learning that much enjoyable :) Apart from that, she have a lot of giveaways to show her appreciation for the support from her fans. Her giveaways are always very generous, it includes brands such as Sultra, Urban Decay, Nars, Mac et cetera. So far, I haven't won any of her giveaways, but who knows you might be the lucky one! *wink*

Oh! Tiffany is my favourite guru!! Love her to bits. I think I've watched every single make up videos of hers! She is very informative and I like the way she explains and reviews about something, it will always be very detailed and precise. As such, she gives the impression that she knows what she is doing. All of her make up tutorials are wearable, which is good. We like looks that are wearable but different everyday right?

Something totally irrelevant: I think that she's a doppleganger of Celine Dion! Check her out and you'll know what I mean!

So, enough of make up gurus. Chriselle is a fashion guru. She is a stylist who styles many celebrities for advertisements and photoshoots. I got to know of her channel through one of Michelle Phan's video. Chriselle's tutorials are really useful, she teaches how we should mix and match, different ways of wearing a piece of clothings, how to transform a day outfit into a night outfit etc. Believe me you won't go wrong if you stick to her rules!

You should know by now, I am a nail polish freak! I've tried searching for many DIY nail art tutorials, but most of them are really complicated and required skills of a professional manicurist. That was before I came across Cutepolish. Her nailart tutorials are really simple and easy to do. If you love nail stuff as much as me, subscribe to her channel and you won't regret!

A note to keep in mind while watching YT gurus, do not purchase something just because they recommend it. They might be giving good reviews because they were being paid for it, even though they claim that they're not getting a penny. To avoid buying something you might regret, do a little research before making the purchase. First, try to ask if any of your friends or member of the family (because they will be your most trustworthy source) use the product mentioned before and ask them what they think of it. Next, just google for the products' review and take a look at what people have said. I recommend Makeupalley for this. If a product have a whole lot of bad reviews, it is highly likely that it is not as good as the gurus claims it to be. On the other hand, if your little research yields positive results, you can be assured that the products are good and it is more likely that your money will be well spent.

Putting that aside, I'll be more than happy if you manage to learn as much as I did from these wonderful people :)

Cheers,
Charlotte
